Host a Table in Your Community

Is there an event in your community where you’d like to represent the Miami County Democrats?

Farmers markets, festivals, local events — or even just a busy weekend in your town.

If people are there, you can table.

We’ll provide the setup. You bring a friend, show up, and help us meet our neighbors.

Preferred notice: 2 weeks
Minimum notice: 2 days (if inside of that time frame please still reach out)

Tabling in Your Community: A Guide

What is tabling?

Tabling is simple: you set up a Miami County Democrats table at a community event and help people get connected.

You do not need to be an expert. You do not need to have every answer.

Your job is to:

  • say hello

  • talk with neighbors

  • invite people to stay connected

  • share voter information

  • help people learn how to get involved

A good first line is: “Hi! Are you from Miami County?”

That’s it. Start there.

Please do not table alone

For safety, comfort, and better conversations, each table should have at least two volunteers.

Bring a friend, family member, neighbor, or another Democrat in your area.

If you want to table but do not have a second person yet, tell us in the request form and we’ll see if we can help connect you with someone.

What comes in the tabling kit?

The kit includes:

  • pop-up canopy

  • small wheeled cart

  • 6-foot table

  • Miami County Democrats table cover or table runner

  • easel and poster

  • voter registration information

  • voter information QR codes

  • Miami County Democrats information sheet

  • candidate information, when available

  • takeaways such as business cards

  • candy bowl

  • signup materials

  • pens and basic supplies

How It Works
  1. Request the kit: Tell us where and when you’d like to table by filling out the form. We’ll ask for basic event details, including: event name, location, date/time, your contact information, and how many volunteers you have.

You can also text 620-214-0178 or email info@miamicoksdems.org.

  2. We’ll coordinate with you: You'll get a follow up to confirm availability and arrange when and how you'll get and return the kit and make sure you have what you need.

  3. Show up and connect: Bring a friend, set up the table, and talk with neighbors. After the event, you’ll return the kit and complete a quick report so we know what worked, what supplies need replaced, and how many people we reached.

You should bring:
  • at least one other volunteer

  • your own chairs

  • cooler and ice, if needed

What should I say if someone asks a question I can’t answer?

You do not have to know everything.

Try: “That’s a good question. I don’t want to guess, but we can help follow up.”

Or:

“I’m here as a volunteer, but I can help get you connected.”

Then invite them to leave their contact information or scan the QR code.

What makes a good table?

A good table is:

  • visible

  • friendly

  • organized

  • low-pressure

  • welcoming

A few tips

  • stand when you can

  • smile and say hello

  • keep the front of the table clear

  • put candy where people can see it

  • keep signup sheets easy to reach

  • do not block the QR code

  • do not argue with hostile people

Short conversations count. A wave counts. A friendly presence counts.
